The bathroom is the space
dedicated to cleansing and purifying the body. Soaking and unwinding in the
bathtub (specially outdoor bathtub such as the one above), steaming and lathering in the shower, or simply splashing your face
with water restores energy.
Imagine a tranquil oasis
within your home where you can soak the day’s cares away and restore your sense
of balance with the world. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?
Get Started Today. Apply
these simple and practical Feng Shui Tips (decluttering & organizing) to
your bathroom and create your own personal spa retreat, a place of relaxation
and rejuvenation.
1. Purge - Purge any items
you haven't used in the past 6 months. Start by taking out everything out of
your cupboards, baskets, bags, anything that occupies a space in your bathroom.
I mean everything. Lay it out somewhere and instantly throw anything away that
you no longer use or need. For example bottles of shampoo, soap, lotions, hairstyling products, toothpastes that have hardly anything left, expired
makeup, old toothbrushes and makeup brushes, etc. You have to be very strict
here. It's good to remind yourself that these are simply products and you have
no emotional attachment to them. Don't feel guilty because you're throwing
anything out, it no longer has a happy place in your home, so just let it go. While
you are at it, be sure to declutter your medicine cabinet too. Check expiration
dates and discard all expired medications by taking them to your local
community kiosk drop-off sites for expired or unwanted medications.
2. Sort & Declutter Your
Bathroom - As you remove all your items from your shelves and cupboards,
organize them into small piles e.g. makeup, shampoo, first-aid, etc. This will
make it easier later on when you start to organize and store them.
3. Clean Your Bathroom - Pop
on your gloves and get scrubbing. For best results, ecofriendly cleaning
products such as baking soda and vinegar will make your bathroom super clean and
fresh too. Stay away from harmful and toxic cleaners. Sure, they work a lot
faster, but their toxicity will remain in your bathroom and you don’t want that.
4. Make a Game Plan -
Everyone in the household must take responsibility for their own share of the
clutter. So, get everyone involved! Now that you and other household members
have decluttered and cleaned the bathroom/s, it's time to figure out where
everything goes. By taking all the items out of the cupboard and sorting into
piles, you and the household members have a better understanding of how to organize
and store items for everyone’s daily use.
Next, keep your bathroom
clean, clutter-free and organized by applying these simple and practical habits:
Purge any products you
haven't used in the past 6 months
Don't place items that don't
belong in your bathroom in there
Only keep items that you use
daily in your bathroom
Store makeup brushes and
toothbrushes in Mason jars
Declutter your bathroom
drawers with a tray organizer
Organize daily shaving items in a dedicated space in a tray or a drawer
Organize daily shaving items in a dedicated space in a tray or a drawer
Clean your bathroom often
Now that you
have done all these nice work, treat yourself to a relaxing lavender
aromatherapy bath (or other kinds of aromatherapy to your liking), not only it will
refresh and rejuvenate your body and spirit, you absolutely deserve it. Be good
to yourself!
Happy
Decluttering & Organizing!
